Description
The Siete cardigan is made of organic cotton and has a slim fit and a straight cut. The ribbing of the vest has a Matja pattern and a small Unikko pattern flower is embroidered on the front. The short cardigan has a wide double rib in the V-neckline, ribbing in the sleeve openings and a wide ribbing in the hem.
Stripes have always been an integral part of Marimekko's design world. Maija Isola's densely rhythmic striped pattern Matja saw the light of day in 1979.
Maija Isola created the Unikko pattern, an international icon of pattern design, in 1964. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, thought that it was not possible to capture the true essence of flowers in a pattern. Because of this, Marimekko's collections previously did not include flowers. Maija Isola designed the Unikko pattern as an abstract interpretation rather than a photorealistic reproduction of the flower theme. Today, Unikko is a strong symbol of joy and creativity and an important part of Marimekko's design identity.
