Orgulous Orbweaver plywood earrings

A stunning new arrival from Mirjamindigo: the Orgulous Orbweaver

This magical spider earring is both understated and ornate – the color palette is inspired by nature, blending beautifully with shimmering, silver-toned mirror acrylic and striking details.

I drew inspiration for these spider earrings from the magnificent European garden spiders at our summer cottage, which especially in the evenings arrive at their posts in their giant webs. By late summer, these creatures have reached their final, plump form, and I have seen them in many beautiful shades, from grey to brown and even fiery orange, complete with detailed cross patterns.

For these earrings, I wanted to combine earthy tones while also incorporating sparkle and shimmer, to do justice to the spiders' intricate webs and their airy nature. For the web, I chose a silver mirror acrylic, from which a birch plywood spider hangs on a short chain, creating natural movement and lightness. The spider has also captured prey, wrapped up in a neat package as a pearlescent white glass bead.
