Description

A popular tea strainer for brewing good tea. Beautiful and practical Finnish design and craftsmanship.

Brewing a good cup of tea doesn't require much; just fresh water, quality tea, and a proper tea strainer.

Instructions:

Place the Asteri tea strainer with its collar on top of your teapot or mug. Measure loose tea leaves into the strainer and pour hot water over the leaves. After the steeping time, lift the tea strainer by its collar and place it to dry on another cup or small bowl with the tea leaves still in the strainer; once dry, the tea leaves are easy to tap into a compost bin.

Why do so many consider our tea strainer the best?

  • The mouth of the tea strainer is wide, making it easy to add tea leaves.
  • The mesh of the strainer is extremely fine, so even the smallest tea leaves cannot pass through and make the tea taste bitter.
  • The strainer is so spacious that the tea leaves have room to unfurl and the flavor to distribute evenly, whether you are brewing a cup or a pot.
  • The collar of the tea strainer makes it easy to lift off the mug or pot without burning your fingers.
  • The bottom of the tea strainer collar has a natural cork surface that insulates against heat: the collar does not get hot, and the tea water does not cool down. The collar is also pleasant to place on top of a mug or pot, as it doesn't clatter.
  • Cleaning the tea strainer is easy! A simple rinse is enough for the collar, and the strainer part can even be washed in the dishwasher, as it is made of very durable stainless steel.
  • But above all, our tea strainer is beautiful.
  • Visual appeal is, after all, part of the tea experience! The tea strainer collar is enameled as an individual piece of handicraft at our own studio in Kenkävero, Mikkeli, and every tea strainer is unique, even if they are made according to the same design.

Our tea strainer was designed by Pauliina Rundgren – a passionate tea lover – so every detail that is essential and makes a tea moment even more enjoyable has been considered in the design.

Brew your tea in the right temperature water

Black tea: Water temperature 90-100 degrees Celsius. Steeping time 3-4 minutes

Green tea: Water temperature 80 degrees Celsius. Steeping time 2 minutes

White tea: Water temperature 70-80 degrees Celsius. Steeping time 2-3 minutes

Oolong tea: Water temperature 80-100 degrees Celsius. Steeping time 2-4 minutes

Pu-erh tea: Water temperature 90-100 degrees Celsius. Steeping time 2-4 minutes

Herbal infusions: Water temperature 100 degrees Celsius. Steeping time 5-8 minutes

Always check the water temperature and steeping time on the tea packaging as well.

Did you know that many quality tea varieties can be steeped a couple of times? It is worth leaving them in the strainer to dry and using them for another infusion! This primarily applies to white, green, and oolong teas.
