Description
Hand-enameled in Finland, the Lehti tea strainer is a durable and easy-to-use tool for brewing tea. A firm favorite for many!
Brewing good tea is easy!
Brewing good tea doesn’t require much; just fresh water, quality tea, and a proper tea strainer.
Instructions:
Place the Lehti tea strainer with its collar onto your teapot or mug. Scoop loose-leaf tea into the strainer and pour hot water over the leaves. After the steeping time, lift the strainer and collar away and place it on another cup or small bowl to dry with the tea leaves still inside; once dry, the tea leaves are easy to tap into your compost bin.
Why do so many people think our tea strainer is the best?
- The strainer's opening is wide, making it easy to dispense tea leaves.
- The mesh of the strainer is extremely fine, so even the smallest tea leaves won't pass through to bitter the taste of your tea.
- The strainer is spacious enough for tea leaves to expand and flavor to distribute evenly, whether you are brewing a single cup or a whole pot.
- The strainer's collar makes it easy to lift it off the mug or pot without burning your fingers.
- The base of the strainer's collar has a natural cork surface that insulates against heat: the collar doesn't get hot, and the tea water doesn't cool down. The collar is also pleasant to place on a mug or pot, as it doesn't clatter.
- Cleaning the tea strainer is easy! The collar just needs a rinse, and the strainer part can even be washed in the dishwasher, as it is made of very sturdy stainless steel.
- But above all, our tea strainer is beautiful.
- After all, visual appeal is part of the tea experience! The strainer's collar is enameled as an individual piece of craftsmanship at our own studio in Kenkävero, Mikkeli, and every tea strainer is unique, even if they are made according to the same design.
Our tea strainer was designed by Pauliina Rundgren – a passionate tea lover – so every detail that is essential and makes your tea moment even more enjoyable has been taken into account.
Brew your tea in water at the right temperature:
Black tea: Water temperature 90-100°C. Steeping time 3-4 minutes
Green tea: Water temperature 80°C. Steeping time 2 minutes
White tea: Water temperature 70-80°C. Steeping time 2-3 minutes
Oolong tea: Water temperature 80-100°C. Steeping time 2-4 minutes
Pu-erh tea: Water temperature 90-100°C. Steeping time 2-4 minutes
Herbal infusions: Water temperature 100°C. Steeping time 5-8 minutes
Always double-check the water temperature and steeping time on the tea package.
Did you know that many quality teas can be steeped a couple of times, so it's worth leaving them to dry in the strainer and reusing them for a new brew? This applies mainly to white, green, and oolong teas.
