A big-eyed owl sits on a branch in the twilight of the night. An observant bird detects even the slightest vibration in the moss mat. Soon it spreads its powerful wings and glides unnoticed into a silent flight. The owl is perceived as a mysterious forest predator with a magical ability to look back. According to beliefs, the owl sees with its eyes what others cannot see. In many fairy tales, the owl has taken on the role of an old and wise, if somewhat silly, guide.

Sanna got her inspiration for Pöllö from Viirupöllö, which is spread over a wide area. The spotted owl thrives in old conifer and mixed forests, but it can also be found near settlements. Sanna's skillful hands immortalized the owl sitting on a branch. The mysteriously friendly atmosphere associated with the owl has been nicely conveyed in the picture.
